Story
After suffering a stroke, Anna relies on a wheelchair to get around and since she lives alone, even everyday tasks became overwhelming.
Online grocery shopping was too complex and getting to her GP on time for appointments filled her with anxiety. The anxiety left her feeling helpless, and quickly, the outside world began to feel further and further away.
It wasn't long before Anna stopped going out at all.
Then one day, she saw a neighbour being dropped off by a Compaid minibus, the driver helping them to their door and bringing their shopping bags as well.
For the first time in years, she felt a spark of hope.
She found our website, called the Transport number and spoke to Lisa in our Transport team about what she needed. By the time the journey to her upcoming hospital appointment was booked, Anna was smiling wider than she had in a long time.
“Compaid’s transport has allowed me to leave my house for the first time in over 2 years. I use a wheelchair so without this support, I would still be stuck inside.”
Thanks to people like you, Anna can buy affordable groceries at a local supermarket, she never misses appointments at the hospital, and has made friends with others on her weekly bus.
Thanks to your support, Anna can live a more confident, independent, and connected life.
With your help, we can Drive Out Loneliness for people like Anya across Kent.
Together, we can ensure no one is left behind!
