Dr Jack Memorial Fund

Dr Jack Preger (1930-2026) devoted his life to serving the poor in Kolkata, India. This fund will continue his legacy by supporting life-changing medical work in the slums and on the streets of Kolkata.

We raise money to make life better for people living in the slums of Kolkata, India. We fund an Indian charity which provides free medical support and skills training for poor people, and free education for their children.

Story

The Dr Jack Memorial Fund has been set up to honour the memory of a truly remarkable man, nicknamed the "grandfather of street medicine".

Every penny raised will go to support the medical work of DSS Kolkata, an Indian charity run by Dr Jack's trusted management team.

DSS Kolkata provides innovative, compassionate and cost-effective healthcare through primary health clinics serving thousands of the poorest people in the very deprived docks area of Kolkata.

The UK charity Calcutta Rescue Fund, which was founded by Dr Jack, administers the Dr Jack Memorial Fund.

Please join us in remembering Dr Jack with a donation and a comment.
