Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain (DSS-GB) was created in 2016 to provide opportunities for talented swimmers with Down syndrome across Great Britain. Often excluded from mainstream events, DSS-GB works tirelessly to influence and advocate to improve the visibility and recognition of these incredible athletes; and support them to represent Great Britain at international competitions. DSS-GB work with each athlete and the support team behind them to nurture and educate and improve their chances, helping them to grow as rounded individuals into self-confident, responsible, healthy members of society. The effects of being a DSS-GB squad member are transformational and life-changing. The pride and joy created in each one of these swimmers and their families and friends is priceless.
A total of 59 DSS-GB supporters will run the Manchester Marathon on 27th April 2025 to raise vital funds to support the athletes attending their first International camp in May followed by the 2025 Europeans in October. This is a joint collaboration between "These Girls Can Run, Great Park, Newcastle " and Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain. There will be 5 marathon runners, 6 half marathon runners, 36 quarter marathon runners and 12 ground/support crew. We are particularly proud that 5 of the DSS-GB squad will be taking part.
Thank you to JMAC who have sponsored running kit.
Help us to increase the spread of our life-changing mission and provide more and more opportunities for people with DS.
