Story
In 1974, David Morris, Disability Snowsport UK founder, asked “Why shouldn’t a wheelchair be on top of a mountain?”. At Disability Snowsport UK, we’ve been making this happen for more than 40 years. But there are many more people with a wide range of disabilities who want to be part of snowsport too.
We really appreciate the support of Sensas in realising our vision of mountains and ski slopes free from barriers, where disabled people can learn and take part alongside family, friends and peers.
Rebekah, parents of twins who enjoyed the summer activity days with DSUK:
"It gave them an opportunity to just be children like everyone else, and join together in a club and bond through their shared love of snow sports. The happy smiles at the end of each of these club sessions, from both the children and their carers alike, was magical to see.... From my side, the opportunity you provided for my boys to attend an inclusive summer club has been life changing for our family...The summer club not only allowed my boys to meet children with similar needs to their own, it also helped them to discover new activities they now love too, such as climbing, all within a supportive network of compassionate, incredible DSUK instructors that have the patience of saints and exactly the right balance of encouragement and non-judgmental understanding that my boys needed. This is such a rare thing for disabled children to have access to."
This shows that the power of snowsport is more than just putting on a pair of skis, and the effects can have a lasting improvement in other aspects of the lives of disabled people.
Join us in making snowsport for everyone, creating an inclusive, accessible community. Whatever amount you can, whether it is £10, £15, £50, or more, will have a genuine impact on snowsport opportunities for disabled people.
