Story

24 years ago, on 12th of Oct 2002, Kuta, Bali, devastation was caused by two terrorist bombs in Paddy's Bar and The Sari Club. The rugby world was hit hard as 27 of the people who died in the blasts were players & supporters attending the Bali 10s competition. In total 202 People lost their lives in the Bali bombings including Polly's late husband, Dan Miller and her best friend and Bridesmaid, Annika Linden.

The Bali Legends is in international invitational rugby team that play in memory of those who died in the Bali bombings and have been playing in the International Veterans section of the Dubai Rugby 7s since 2007.

The team was originally made up of players form the clubs affected by the bombings but over the years the team has become a predominantly invitational team, with many former international players having represented the team in the tournament.

In an ever-competitive International Vets section the dnata Bali Legends are proud to have become one of the leading contenders over the past 17 years, having previously won the plate tournament twice, a regular in the cup semi-finals and won the CUP once in 2024.

Last year was a tough one with injuries, but the team are back again and are not only chomping at the bit to regain their title, but also to promote and support Dan's Fund For Burns.

This charity was set up by Polly, who was the sole survivor of her party of 10 that night at the Sari club and in memory of her husband of just five weeks, Dan Miller. Polly received 43% burns to her body as she dragged herself out of the burning Sari Club and has made it her mission to help burn survivors, aged 16 and over across the UK over the past 22 years.

She has raised over £3,900,000 for burn survivors and the charity supports burn survivors through financial grants, emotional support services and helps the NHS burn services with training and equipment donations. Help us to help her reach the £4,000,000 mark before the 25th anniversary next year.

The International Vets section of the Emirates Dubai 7s is a special one - it is made up of mostly ex-Internationals, 35 and over and they play 10s. The Team helps promote Dan's Fund for Burns and are proud to play in memory of those who lost their lives.

Any donation would be gratefully received.

Thank you from,

Trefor, Paul, Polly and team.
