Over the last 50 years, the village hall and its car park has been central in enabling community events, celebrations, and meetings - a vital hub for our Pre School, tiny tots’ gatherings, social clubs and family celebrations. It is probably the most used piece of land in our Village. However, the wear-and-tear the car park has endured is now a serious threat to its future use and we are worried that the safety of users will be compromised due to potholes and uneven surfaces. It really does need immediate improvement. Paying attention to it now will reduce future maintenance costs and reduce potential damage to people and vehicles. Not the most exciting of projects to undertake but one of the most necessary.

Based on contractors quotes to carry out the work this summer (2024), the project has been costed at £45,000 including VAT. This includes drainage repairs and a 10% contingency. Ducts will be laid for future electrical services (possible lighting and EV charging points) and spaces will be white lined. The provision of EV charging points will help the village meet the “green agenda” and they could be available for residents who cannot charge their vehicles near their homes.

We are hoping to raise £25,000 from the Village as we have already secured circa £20,000 towards the costs.

Let’s get together (our new mantra) as a community to secure the longevity of this much needed and well utilised Village Hall asset. Your generosity will not only enhance the look of this shared space but also reinforce the strong bonds that make our community special.
