Women attending our breast unit at Russell’s Hall Hospital often feel stressed and anxious and can receive devastating news resulting in the need for follow-on treatment and/or surgery. Our aim is to create an environment where our women feel relaxed and as comfortable as possible hence us reaching out for your support in helping us to raise monies to enhance our patient waiting area. Our patient area is currently outdated, doesn’t have a calming or welcoming feel and really needs some focus on its décor and design including our seating to meet the varying needs of our women, introducing new colours, adding greenery, introducing a children’s corner in addition to a patient waiting room TV.
The service has also been trialling a mammography chair for our women who struggle to stand when their mammogram is being performed. Feedback has been extremely positive and we are therefore looking to purchase our own mammography chair.
The service actively looks at ways to raise monies with a Skydive taking place this month and a Barn Dance being planned for 2025. Whilst these events will help us to raise monies, it will not enable us to reach the target we aim for, to really make a difference.
We are extremely grateful for any contribution you can make which will help us greatly in improving the service we provide for the population we serve.
