Story
Hi, I’m Dylan Crawford, 23 years old, and I’ll be running my first half marathon on August 24th at the Antrim Half in Northern Ireland. I’ve chosen to run for The Anchor, a charity doing incredible work in Inverclyde and beyond. Their mission is to promote mental health and well-being for adults and children, reduce suicide rates through prevention and community support, and advance emotional literacy for all ages.
Mental health is something I took for granted growing up, but I’ve come to realise how important it is to talk and to listen. That’s why I want to raise awareness and funds for this amazing cause as everyone needs a charity like The Anchor. This is going to be my biggest challenge yet and one which I will not take lightly, I have never really trained consistently to my ability in running or had a good diet mainly due to the fact I play a lot of tennis as well, but to run for this amazing charity I am going to try and change this.
I’m aiming to run under 1 hour 15 minutes and will be following a dedicated 10-week training plan
which I’ll be sharing on my new TikTok page: dyl runs.
As the current Greenock Glenpark Harriers club champion and Greenock and district tennis champion, I’m all in for this challenge and hope to use these to my advantage, every donation helps.
