Monday the 6th February, two enormous 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck the regions of South East Türkiye and North West Syria. Tremors were felt as far as Cyprus, Egypt and Lebanon.

According to latest reports (07-02-2023), a combined total of at least 2,800 people have already been confirmed dead across Türkiye and Syria, with the number rising by the hour. Gaziantep has the highest death toll among Turkish cities so far, and with North West Syrias already fragile infrastructure due to decades of protracted conflict loosing many lives.
More than 17,000 people have been reported injured. Ongoing rescue operations are taking place in a desperate bid to save lives.

The earthquakes are the worst to hit the Turkish region in 19 years and in Syria, the worst in over a century.
Cap Foundation Teams are on the ground right now responding to the disaster in both Türkiye and Syria.

In Türkiye , our teams are providing emergency food assistance, shelter and cash grants to enable those worst affected to meet their immediate needs. In Syria, we are working with our partners to help with health and medical supplies to hospitals and clinics. We are also distributing blankets and tents for those made homeless by the earthquake.

Our teams are continuing to assess the situation as it evolves and making preparations to provide emergency support to those hit hard by the crisis.
Please donate generously to our Türkiye Syria Earthquake Appeal and help save precious lives now.
