Story
Young carers are an often overlooked group of young people, despite a massive 1 in 5 young people being a young carer at some point. They provide support for family members with physical/mental health conditions, substance misuse problems, learning disabilities, and more!
Understandably, the pressure of caring can often have some negative impacts on their health, wellbeing and development. With 1 in 3 young carers struggling with a mental health issue of their own, it is important that they have the right support and respite activities.
This is where The Eastleigh Young Carers Project comes in. We aim to give them respite, improve their confidence and self-esteem, boost their wellbeing, and reduce their isolation by helping them build a young carers network. This can be hard to achieve in the current climate, and the need for respite is just increasing.
At many of our events, our young people have made it clear that they would like a holiday together- an adventure holiday to be exact. We do not have the funding to pay for all of them ourselves, and we like all our young carers to be able to participate in activities regardless of their finances. So here we are on our fundraising journey asking for your help!
By supporting us, you would be giving young people a chance to increase their wellbeing, confidence and feeling of belonging. So please donate what you can and/or share this page to help us give some young people time to be just that- young.
Any excess funds raised will go towards respite and therapy activities for our young carers.
