EBYE climbs Mount Snowdon in Loving memory of Aoife ~forever 3~ Fighting Children's Cancer Together

A team of 12 incredible ladies are climbing mount Snowdon in Wales, to raise funds for Aoife's Bubbles Charity, founded in loving memory of Aoife Flanagan, who passed away age 3 to germ cell cancer.

Aoife's Bubbles Charity was founded in 2019 in loving memory of Aoife Flanagan. Aoife was just 3 when she passed away from Germ Cell Cancer. Aoife only had her cancer diagnosis for 5 days despite her Mum taking her to the GP and A&E in excess of 10 times in the weeks leading up to her passing.

Story

Over the weekend of 19th/20th September 2026, 12 of the wonderful ladies from East Bergholt Young Explorers will be climbing Mount Snowdon overnight to raise funds for Aoife's Bubbles Charity. A local, family run charity - founded in memory of Aoife Flanagan, the charities founders daughter.

A bit about Aoife.

Aoife, is a pony mad ginger haired 3 year old girl, small in stature but mighty in nature.

Early in 2019 - Eilish, Aoife's Mummy started to notice changes in Aoife's mood, appearance and constant ailments. The doctors told her she was a paranoid Mummy and all of Aoife's symptoms were typical for children her age.

Symptoms

*Weight loss

*Constipation

*Obvious lump

*Repeated infections

*Night sweats

*Unexplained bruises

*Mummy's concern something was wrong

Despite all of the sinister symptoms above, Aoife's Mummy was ignored.

Aoife had cancer and she was seen over 10 times in the weeks prior to 2nd July 2019, when she was finally diagnosed with germ cell cancer. A cancer over 90% reactive to chemotherapy when caught early enough, and Aoife's should have been.

Shockingly, Aoife passed away just 5 days after her diagnosis in her Mummy's arms.

Since then - Aoife's legacy has helped raise untold amounts of life saving childhood cancer awareness and has supported 100's of children all over the UK affected by childhood cancer and the destruction it causes.

Shockingly 80% of children are at a stage 4 with their disease by the time they reach diagnosis and we aim to bridge this gap and lower this shocking statistic.

We have identified the need, all over Suffolk - for more community outreach in safe spaces for children with cancer to ease isolation. So with all the fundraising earned by this fabulous group of ladies, we will ensure this is facilitated.

Aoife has 2 surviving brothers, and her family struggled with the idea of them attending a nursery. When Aoife's parents viewed EBYE, they has a great feeling that this setting was the right place for them.

The team have supported her brothers through their sadness and questions and have provided Aoife with a chance to be involved in a nativity.

The team do incredible work and now, they are supporting a wonderful local charity to make a huge tangible difference to children with cancer - in a beautiful little girls memory.
