Can you help us to raise £700+ for Eddie's vital heart surgery?
Eddie came into our care a couple of months ago after his previous owners abandoned him. Our routine health checks picked up a heart murmur, and after further investigation Eddie was sadly diagnosed with two serious congenital heart diseases.
One of Eddies conditions is called Patent Ductus Arteriosus, one of the most common congenital heart defects in dogs, and means blood isn't running around his heart properly. This needs treating urgently if we want to give him the best chance at having the life he deserves. The severity of his condition if not treated means that Eddie could pass away at any stage.
To give him a fighting chance, Eddie needs open heart surgery and we need your help to make this happen. Although the heart surgery may not give him a 'normal' life span, our vets are very optimistic that he should at least be able to live for a number of happy years.
The initial cost of his surgery will be £700, and following this there will be consultation costs and any other treatment needed. We know times are difficult for everybody at the moment, but if you can spare any amount at all we would be so grateful ... as would Eddie!
On the back of this, we also will need to find a foster home for Eddie once hes had his surgery. The operation will be intensive open heart surgery, so he may be in a lot of pain afterwards and a loving home would help him to heal. A fosterer for Eddie will need to live within 30 minutes to our Animal Centre in East Ardsley and be able to drive. Eddie is great with other people and dogs, but would need to be the only pet in a home whilst he recovers from his operation.
If you can help in any way at all, please email us at: info@rspcaleedsandwakefield.org.uk
** Please note, any extra money we raise above the cost of Eddie's operation and treatment will go towards caring for the other animals at our centre in East Ardsley. **
