Story
Courtyard Nr 5 has long been underutilised and outdated hence access has been restricted to the Estates team only .
The courtyard has at the moment poor landscaping , no seating and lack of amenities resulting in minimal to zero usage by employees, patients or visitors.
This underutilisation represents a missed opportunity to create a space that can enhance the work environment and supports the Trust values.
We would like to raise funds to redesign , to transform the courtyard into a vibrant, functional space that enhances employee well-being, fosters collaboration and improves the overall image of the Hospital as a place of healing and excellent treatment facility.
Studies show that access to a well-designed outdoor space can boost employee morale and satisfaction and help patients recover quicker. Happy employees are more productive and less likely to leave, reducing turnover costs.
Plans for the redesigning the courtyard will include :
landscaping and introducing a new pathway(created from recycled & sustainable materials) to allow access for hospital bed bound patients and also wheelchair users, ground levelling and planting new vibrant colourful plants & shrubs,
purchasing new garden furniture to include seating around the Cherry tree and a Pergola for 1 to 1 conversation which will provide shade/shelter from the weather elements
lighting around the pergola & Cherry Tree powered by solar panels or a small wind generator
sound bord to provide a selection of sounds such as water running , birds chirping, wind rustling etc
miniature green house with succulent /bonsai plants
recycling rain water system as there are no water points in the courtyard.
The estimated cost of this project will be around £50,000 and implementing all these changes will require support from a variety of people, teams and depatments .
Every contribution is greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference towards getting this project to become a reality.
Many thanks Teodora Richardson
