Rainbow Turtle has been teaching about fair trade in the west of Scotland for over 20 years.

We have trained students about fair trade and how it impacts positively on the farmers and producers in the global south. We have supported schools to take on projects like the 90kg Rice Challenge that links in with the enterprise and global citizenship themes of the Scottish curriculum.

Our work with pupils includes organising talks and workshops with fair trade producers, like the basket weavers from Ghana.

We organise creative workshops on the environment and host a podcast series that highlights the work of leaders working in fair trade.

Many of our original students are now shoppers in our Paisley shop. Regularly we have had a young person bring their parent into the shop and say, "mum/dad we were learning about fair trade in school". We are creating future decision makers for a fairer and more sustainable world.

As part of the fundraiser, one of our charity trustees, and member of Paisley Wild Swimming Buddies, Colum Scriven, will be doing a swim/run up at Loch Lomond on Saturday 29th August. The aquathlon, organised by Go Swim, will entail a 750m swim in Loch Lomond followed by 5km run alongside the river Leven. Any money raised from this event will go to fund our education programme.
