Story

Would you know what to do in a 999 life-threatening emergency?

If the answer is yes, then thank you. If it's no, then we want to help you.

There are approximately 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests each year.

Our aim is to teach as many members of the public as possible an awareness of what to do in a medical emergency, what actions to take and when, and to give them the courage to make potentially life changing decisions to help those who need it most.

Thanks to your support, all Basic Life Support awareness courses will be free to attend ensuring they are accessible to all.

EEAST Heart was started to establish a network of community educators to train the public in essential Basic Life Support skills.

This vital skill is taught by qualified staff and volunteers from the East of England Ambulance Service and fully funded via donations from our supporters.

If you've had your training and want to find out more about supporting your community and becoming a volunteer Community First Responder find out more here or find out about the joining up process in this short video.

E-mail Volunteer@eastamb.nhs.uk if you would like to book a free EEAST Heart training session.

‘There were just over 20 residents who attended in the end – some had to drop out at the last minute. (I’ve had a request for another session from a resident who was unable to attend). I have had very positive feedback from several of those who attended. At the session itself there were many thanks extended to Ron and John. The session came across as very positive, professionally delivered and informative but with a lighthearted element that was great given the seriousness of the possible situations people would be in when administering CPR or juggling the defibrillator. Ron was particularly good at reiterating essential information and John was fun with his physical practical movements demonstrating how to avoid stamping on the patient’s body!
