Story
When our adoption gallery opened in 2009, it changed what animal sheltering could look like—bright, open spaces filled with natural light instead of the cold, concrete environments of the past. It created a place where people could connect with animals, and where thousands began their journey to new homes.
These spaces have now provided a safe haven for nearly 25,000 dogs and puppies, and even more cats and kittens. After more than 15 years of daily use and cleaning, these spaces are due for renewal. This renovation will not only address wear and tear, but also create even better spaces for animals to rest, recover and thrive - aligned with modern sheltering standards and best practices in animal care.
This project focuses on the spaces where animals stay and new connections begin:
• Upgraded dog life rooms that provide more comfort, privacy and choice for dogs in our care
• Improved public areas that create a more welcoming experience for people meeting animals
• Refreshed cat chalets designed to better support feline well-being, including access to fresh air in outdoor catios during warmer months
• A dedicated kitten gallery designed to showcase and support young cats in a calm, purpose-built space
Together, these updates will improve animal welfare, strengthen comfort and create better opportunities for meaningful connections between people and their future pets.
This is a long-term investment in animal well-being and the future of animal sheltering in our community.
With $545,000 still needed to complete the $2.4 million project, every gift brings us closer to finishing these important upgrades.
Will you join us in creating even better spaces for animals today—and for years to come?
