About us
At the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS), we’re working toward a future where people and pets can thrive, together. Guided by our mission to enrich the lives of people and companion animals, we do this through sheltering animals in need, supporting pet guardians, engaging our community and inspiring compassion.
Each year, we provide safe shelter, medical care, behavioural rehabilitation and adoption services to thousands of homeless and vulnerable animals. From intake to rehoming, our team is focused on giving every animal a chance at the life they deserve.
At the same time, we work to prevent animals from entering the shelter system. Through education and training, access to pet food and resources and community-based programs like low-cost spay/neuter services and emergency boarding, we help people navigate challenges and keep their pets in loving homes.
Together, this work strengthens the bond between people and their animals and builds a more compassionate community. With approximately 70% of our funding coming from our generous community, donations make it possible to continue this work and support people and pets who need it most.
