Help Us Build the Future of Elswick Pool

Elswick Community Pool and Gym has been at the heart of our community for decades — a place where people of all ages come to swim, exercise, heal, and connect. After being closed by the Council due to financial constraints, a group of dedicated residents fought for its reopening under charitable status in 2019. It’s more than a pool. It’s a safe space for families, a sanctuary for seniors, and a vital part of the health and wellbeing of our community.

Why Should You Contribute?

- Our facility welcomes over 32,000 people each year;

- Every year, we teach over 2,000 kids to swim through our different programmes;

- We have trained over 60 individuals as lifeguards, and 8 swimming teachers. More than 80% of them are now active in the industry;

- We provide tailored activities for different groups, such as gender-specific swim sessions or classes, and disability-friendly swims;

- We offer free or reduced-price swimming lessons for children from low-income families, as we believe swimming is such an important lifesaving skill;

- We partner with local organisations to offer free facility access to vulnerable groups through Public Health England (PHE).

We do all this and more, but we want to spread this with even more people and constantly improve our centre to make it better than ever. And we cannot do this without you

What will my donation be used for?

We are a proud single-site charity that operates without any financial assistance from the government or any local authority. Every donation we receive goes directly toward maintaining and improving the services we provide to our community. Some examples include:

- Upgrade and maintain our gym equipment

- Expand our marketing efforts to reach more people

- Organise more inclusive community events

- Continue providing free or reduced-price swimming lessons for kids coming from low income families

- Focus on providing tailored activities for specific groups, such as classes for people aged 60+

- Improve our changing room facilities

- Offer free training courses in lifeguarding and swim instruction
