Story
Why we're running
In 2027, team Ely Foodbank is taking on the Cambridge Half Marathon, 13.1 miles through the heart of one of the country's most historic cities. We're not doing it for the medal. We're doing it because right now, more people across East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire and Fenland are being pushed further into poverty, and Ely Foodbank is there for anyone in our community who needs a food bank to get through a hard time.
The reality on the ground
It's easy to think of a food bank as a last resort for a small number of people. The truth is different. Across our 288 square mile area, the cost of essentials has risen faster than incomes, and Universal Credit payments often don't stretch far enough to cover the gap.
"We see people from every kind of background walk through our doors. What they have in common isn't a failure on their part, it's that the numbers just don't add up anymore." - Séamus Connolly, CEO, Ely Foodbank
What your donation does
Every pound raised through this campaign helps Ely Foodbank keep its shelves stocked and its doors open for local people who need support. It funds food, but it also funds the advice and support with money that helps people find a way through, not just a one-off parcel.
How you can help
You can back our team directly by donating on this page, or you can find out more about our work at elyfoodbank.org.uk. If you'd like to lace up and join the team yourself, get in touch, we'd love to have you.
Thank you for being part of this. Together, we can make sure no one in our community has to face hunger alone.
