Organised by Hopscotch Women's CentreWe have seen a rise in women and families fleeing violence and abuse. With refuges often full, we pay for them to stay safe in hotels and support them to feel secure. Your donation will be a lifeline.
Often, they come to our doorstep on a Friday afternoon with their young children, urgently seeking safety. These women flee just before the weekend, as they cannot face a weekend at home with their abuser. However, there is no time to seek help from local authorities before they close for the weekend, and women's refuges are full or they do not take children.
Therefore, Hopscotch Women's Centre takes responsibility to keep them safe until Monday, when the woman can come back to us and seek support from our advocates.
With no supplies for herself and her children, we pay for 3 nights in a hotel, as well as food and toiletries to last them the weekend. Our staff work late into the evening, supporting the family to ensure they feel safe.
For each woman or family, this costs £300.

As a charity, funds are limited, and so we rely on the generosity of our supporters to provide donations that can be used in these emergency situations. Your donation can keep a family alive.
Each year more than 75,000 people in the UK are at high and imminent risk of being murdered or seriously injured as a result of domestic abuse.
