Organised by Apples and Snakes

We give workshops, artist development opportunities & support to emerging artists. We've championed artists such as Kae Tempest, Rachel Long and Lemn Sissay - donate to help us provide a vital creative lifeline and change the future of spoken word

Apples and Snakes is England's leading spoken word poetry organisation. Spoken word trailblazers, we exist to champion extraordinary artists, amplify ignored voices & challenge expectations of what poetry is & can be. We create inspirational & transformative experiences for audiences nationally.

Story

SPOKEN WORD TRAILBLAZERS, WITH ARTISTS AT OUR HEART

Apples and Snakes was started by a group of poets in 1982 in a room above a pub. Over our 35-year history weve worked with Billy Bragg, Jackie Kay, Lemn Sissay, Polarbear, Kae Tempest, Benjamin Zephaniah, Michael Rosen, Caleb Femi and Hollie McNish, to name just a few.

As Englands leading spoken word poetry organisation, we exist to support poets at all stages of their careers.
