Story
Now, here's the important bit: I absolutely hate running. I always have.
As a child, I was the chubby kid who dreaded cross-country at school. Running was something to survive rather than enjoy. I hid in bushes more than once to avoid running, and I even walked my way through a race because I simply couldn't face it. Safe to say, I never imagined I'd voluntarily sign up to run 13.1 miles. But that's exactly why I'm doing it.
The Fine & Country Foundation supports charities that help people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. As a trustee, I've seen the incredible work these organisations do, helping people rebuild their lives and, ultimately, find somewhere to call home. Compared with the challenges many of the people they support face every day, a few hours of discomfort is a very small sacrifice.
So, while every training run will probably involve me questioning my life choices, I'll keep reminding myself why I'm doing it.
If you're able to support me, no matter how big or small the donation, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every pound raised will help the Foundation continue supporting charities that make a genuine difference to people who need it most. And if nothing else, your donation will help ensure I can't back out now.
