Story

The stress factors associated with having a caring role can have a profound effect on a Young Carers health, social life and self-confidence. Our team of professionals at The Carers Centre look at the support needs within the whole family and aim to reduce the impact of a caring role on children.

Young Carers can also receive advocacy support through the Centre. We work with the education, health social care and voluntary sectors across Brighton & Hove to ensure that the right professionals at school or in the community understand the caring role at home and that the Young Carers voice is heard at relevant meetings which the family may be involved with. This work has helped to reduce the stigma of being a Young Carer and identify more Young Carers throughout the city.

About the charity

The Carers Centre for Brighton and Hove has been working since 1988 to support all those in the city providing unpaid care to a family member or friend. We provide information, emotional support, the chance to meet others in similar situations and to have their say in developing local services.
