Why Youth Work is Essential:

Youth Workers are listeners, mentors, and role models. They take on the role of trusted adult for lots of young people, and help them navigate the difficult years of adolescence.

In 2024 young people are dealing with so much: mental health struggles, navigating complex relationships, unemployment, families with low-income, or lack of aspiration. Sometimes it can be difficult to discuss these things with family, friends or teachers.

YMCA Northumberland Youth Workers offer a safe space to share, grow in confidence, and develop skills, thus reducing the likelihood of anti-social behaviour or young people dropping out of school.
