Story

Empty hearts. Empty homes. Empty hopes.

The sticking plaster is holding. Just.

The homeless in Brighton & Hove have been accommodated by the Council in temporary rooms and living spaces during the Covid-19 crisis. At least most of them have. But at present there are no long-term plans to solve these issues.

The outcome of the crisis will inevitably lead to greater numbers on the streets, more women feeling afraid in their own homes and children fearful of going to school.

Antifreeze : Helping the homeless inside and out . Tuesday 24th March was the last day we were able to take our hygiene, clothing and food/drink services to those in need. Although most of our service users have been housed under emergency measures we fully expect to return to our normal role as soon as the crisis abates.

Gateway : Our Womens Centre has contacted all of their service users, responding to safeguarding issues and where possible, delivering emergency food bags. We will continue to respond to mental health emergencies, while reassuring and supporting the women in greatest need.

Schools & Youth : Standing by our young people . We have been providing resources to help young people with self-care during isolation and are supporting schools that remain open for the children of key workers. Help us protect the mental health of the youth of Brighton & Hove through these unprecedented times.

Your support is more vital than ever.

End Emptiness and help us continue to deliver vital services to those most in need in Brighton & Hove.
