Story
On 8th March in Kingston, one of our youngest trustees will take on a 20-mile breakfast run. But this isn’t just a physical challenge. It’s a deeply personal one.
Ethan was a child in care, struggling in education and unsure of his future. Like many young people he faced challenges that were difficult to navigate alone. That changed when he joined our MAPS mentoring programme.
He was matched with a mentor who listened, believed in him and showed up consistently. The impact of that relationship was transformational. Ethan grew in confidence, developed resilience and began to imagine a different future. Mentoring didn’t just help him cope, it helped him thrive.
Determined to give back, Ethan trained as a mentor himself, supporting young people facing the same struggles he once experienced. Today, he is a trustee, helping to shape the very organisation that once guided him.
Now he’s running 20 miles to ensure more young people can access that same life-changing support.
The Kingston Breakfast Run, held annually since 1998, follows a beautiful route along the Thames towpath and past Hampton Court Palace. For Ethan, every mile represents the endurance, commitment and belief that mentoring instils in young people.
But he can’t do it alone.
Your donation will fund vital one-to-one mentoring, volunteer training and safe spaces where young people can grow in confidence and resilience.
Please sponsor Ethan today. Give what you can. Share this page. Your support could help another young person who is struggling right now.
