Story

After a gap of nearly 15 years, since the UK hosted the last European Jamboree in 2005, the upcoming European Scout Jamboree will take place in Poland in July/August 2020. Building on the fantastic programme developed as part of their World Scout Jamboree bids the Scouts and Guides of Poland are inviting Scouts and Guides from around Europe to join them for 11 days of activities. Based on its own island close to the city of Gdansk, the purpose-built site is within walking distance of beautiful sandy beaches, pine forests and a short bus ride from the bustling city.

Two of our Explorer Scouts are lucky enough to have been selected as part of the Nottinghamshire Unit to attend this once in a lifetime experience to share a camp with 15,000 Scouts and Guides from countries across the whole of Europe, to take part in 11 days of activities combining the chance to develop new skills, make new friends and to experience Poland's beautiful countryside.

One of our leaders has also been selected to take up the volunteer role of IST (International Support Team) member. The IST are the backbone of any jamboree, they keep the site working and make sure everyone has a great time and will be integrated into an international team doing all manner of tasks to ensure the jamboree is a great experience for all attending. It will be hard work but also an amazing experience.

We need to fundraise the entire attendance fee for our three participants and would be extremely grateful for any donations received.....
