Thanks to fundraising activities, charitable donations and legacies, we purchase state of the art medical equipment, update the hospital environment and support the development of innovative services to support patients, staff and visitors above the standard that NHS funding alone allows.

Story

Friends of the Friarage has a long and proud history of working with the Friarage hospital in Northallerton to support healthcare for the residents of Hambleton and Richmondshire. Throughout 2024-2025 we are focussing our efforts on raising funds to bring a new service to the Friarage – vitreo-retinal (VR) eye surgery treatment.

This service is currently available at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough but, if we can raise £200,000 for the equipment, the service will also be made available at the Friarage, reducing the need for patients to travel further afield for treatment. 30% of the people waiting for treatment at James Cook come from Hambleton and Richmondshire.

We have a strong relationship with the Friarage eye department and all profits from this appeal will be used to purchase vitreo-retinal and other important equipment for this team.

Thank you so much for your support!
