Story

Friends of the Friarage has a long and proud history of working with the Friarage NHS Hospital to support healthcare for the residents of Hambleton and Richmondshire. In 2024 we are focussing our efforts on raising funds to bring a new eye service to the Friarage – vitreo-retinal (VR) treatment.

This service is currently available at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough but, if we can raise £200,000 for the equipment, the service will also be available at the Friarage, reducing the need for patients to travel further afield for treatment. Over a quarter of the people waiting for treatment at James Cook come from Hambleton and Richmondshire.

We have a strong relationship with the Friarage eye department and all profits from this appeal will be used to purchase vitreo-retinal and other important equipment for this team.

Thank you for your support!

About the charity
