Story
Our Food Larder as we call it runs from Fairfield Community Sports Hub every Saturday and Monday morning and currently there are over 700 members. Each member will pay £5 every visit and for this they can take away full bags of food, toiletries, essentials like nappies etc.
Most of our referrals come from local agencies, as well as self-referrals. Many families who attend tell us without this resource they would go without food.
The current cost of living crisis continues to see numbers grow with new members joining every week and we see no end to this worrying trend locally. The Larder is manned by volunteers and staff and our own costs continue to rise as well with any food we do need to buy as well as day to day revenue costs for the pavilion and extra fuel charges now for our van which picks up donations from across the city.
This funding will help greatly to buy in fresh food and vegetables which are vital nutrients in supplying healthy foods to the families who attend.
