Fairlawn have been providing short breaks for children and young adults with severe learning disabilities for 40 years. The current playground has been in situ for over 30 of those years and enjoyed by thousands of children who visit our service. Our handyman Mick has maintained this well loved piece of equipment with replacing broken parts and an annual paint job but each year this is becoming a bigger job.
The plan is to replace this with a lower level piece of equipment which is more accessible and stimulating for those with mobility issues. For those with a bit more energy to burn, a trim trail will keep them busy and also help build motor skills, improve mobility and of provide hours of fun.
The safety flooring is almost half the budget as it is such a large surface that needs replacing but essential and will look fantastic when finished. Any pennies left over will go towards purchasing some activity boards or toys and storage as our wonderful garden is enjoyed all year round.
