Story
No family should have to choose between food and warmth at Christmas.
But in parts of Eccles and Salford, that’s the reality. Families already living on the edge are pushed further into hardship during the festive season, as the cost of food, heating, and electricity soars.
The Salford Families in Need Meals Project has supported more than 4,500 families in the last year alone. Each week, we provide affordable food bags that help families stretch their budgets. At Christmas and New Year, we go further. Giving extra food bags that cover at least eight days’ worth of meals. Families tell us it lifts their spirits, but one struggle remains: the cost of energy to cook meals and keep warm.
That’s where you can help.
We’re raising £1,000 to provide: 40 energy vouchers of £25 each.
This covers three days of heating and cooking for families over Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
This small, practical gift makes a huge difference. It means a family can sit together for Christmas dinner without worrying about switching off the oven. It means children won’t have to sleep in cold bedrooms. It means parents can breathe, just for a moment, knowing someone cares.
💡 Your gift — whether £5, £10, or £25 — goes directly to keeping homes warm and kitchens running for families who need it most.
Because no one should be left cold and hungry while the rest of the world celebrates.
