Story

Somerville Heart Foundation is the only UK-wide charity supporting adults and young people as they transfer to adult services, with all forms of Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD).

We are here to provide for the non-medical and psychological needs of the estimated 250,000+ people in the UK who were born with a heart condition. In the 1950s and 1960s just 15% of those born with a heart condition survived into adulthood. The survival rate is now around 90%.

We receive no government funding so are reliant on donations to continue to provide services such as psychological support, newsletters, leaflets, events and webinars.

Members find our leaflets and newsletters help them understand their CHD better so they can advocate for themselves:

"Learning more about my condition is powerful"

Our patient events help reduce the isolation felt by many with CHD:

Meeting others with CHD was life changing. Made me realise I could live well with CHD.
