Imagine waking up on Christmas morning with no food in the cupboards and no presents for your children. Or shivering with cold over the holidays because the heating is too expensive to switch on. That’s the Christmas holidays for the most deprived families in Leeds.

For the last few years many of you have made it possible for us to transform Christmas for hundreds of children and families. One mum burst into tears of relief when three big bags of food were delivered to her door. Schools were about to break up, the cupboards were bare, and she didn’t know how to feed her family.

This year we want to change the winter holidays for even more families – deliver a hamper of essential food and Christmas goodies plus presents for those children we know will be going without. It doesn’t cost much: £50 will buy a hamper packed full of food and £20 will mean a child has a stocking full of presents to open on Christmas morning. And, if we are able to exceed our target then we’ll simply go on helping families through the rest of the coldest winter months.
