Crisis Support

We are deeply saddened to say that the sanctuary was broken into overnight on Saturday 25th July. Several items essential to the day to day care of the site and our animals including our pick up, ATV and tools, have been stolen.

For the last 80 years Ferne has been providing care and refuge for unwanted and abandoned animals in the South West of England. Located in Somerset we are home to over 300 long-term residents, and rehome cats and dogs within a 40 mile radius.

Story

We are heartbroken to have been targeted in this way and the impact on the team here is massive.

The loss of the pick-up truck, ATV, a trailer and tools means that the daily tasks are all now having to be done manually.

The ATV is used for so many tasks such as moving feed around the site, poo picking the fields, bringing back a sick animal from a further field. While the pick up and tools are used for site maintenance and to keep all our animals and visitors safe.

We are of course insured but our fear is that there will be a shortfall between the insurance value and what we will need to replace them. To us these things were priceless!
