Redbridge High School is a Fazakerley-based secondary school that serves the whole Liverpool community and beyond for pupils with special educational needs including autism, severe learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Many of our pupils come from the most disadvantaged areas of the city and their physical and learning disabilities make it very difficult for them to access community activities. We have a high number of pupils on free school meals, children who are in the care of the local authority and children who have social care involvement. The school provides opportunities to have extraordinary experiences, to access leisure and the community, to build independence and resilience and to develop the key life skills needed in adulthood. Above all, we are a school for some of the most incredibly brave and strong young people you will ever have the good fortune to meet.
Redbridge parents' teachers' and friends' association (PTFA) was established to fundraise on behalf of the school using the proceeds to support the school's work and to fund the development of essential resources and activities that enrich the pupils' experience of the world. The school needs modern sensory spaces which will meet the needs of our large number of pupils who have sensory processing disorder or profound and multiple learning difficulties.
We hope to subsidise residential visits so that pupils of all abilities and regardless of family circumstances can spend time away from home and participate in life changing, character building activities in the British countryside.
