Sisterland is a registered UK based charity established in 2004 that has cared for and supported impoverished families in Sierra Leone for 17 years. Our work is now focussed on providing shelter and care for homeless mothers and children living on the streets of Freetown.

Story

Jojo (Mrs Josephine Koroma) aged 28 recently joined Sisterland as a Team member. Her words below speak for themselves

You see, my friends, you would not know the importance of the things you have except you meet someone without.

"My first night of assessment got me emotional and feeling pity seeing the uncomfortable situation homeless women are in. Homeless women have to deal with harsh weather conditions, disease, physical, verbal and sexual abuse, and many other bad things associated with living on the streets. Furthermore, working closely with homeless women has taught me to be thankful for the things I have, especially for shelter. Because you see, my friends, you would not know the importance of the things you have except you meet someone without."
