Story
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we support a holistic
rehabilitation programme for women recovering from
obstetric fistula repair surgeries. Often isolated and excluded
from society, women receive peer support and skills training
(such as crafting beautiful handmade baskets) to help them
rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. Alongside
this, we support community champions who work to reduce
stigma and promote access to care. Currently, we support 50
women in Kinshasa and North Kivu, but with over 420 women
undergoing fistula repair there every year, we’re fundraising
to scale up this programme.
