Story
Pakistan is facing another disaster. You will be aware from the international news of the devastating monsoon floods, including in villages across Nowshera, Charsadda, Dir Lower and Dir Upper in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where Khwendo Kor works. FROK is in regular contact with Khwendo Kor and hear of people now suffering from hunger, thirst and shock and who have lost everything. KK have been providing food and non-food items, clean drinking water, health emergency support services and tents to those left without homes. They have started providing medical camps where the majority are suffering from fever, coughs, skin infection, anaemia, and gastroenteritis.
Here are two brief personal accounts:
Ms. Amina (40) told the KK team: "I am very sad because our all quilts and mattresses are damaged by flood water & mud, and we cannot reuse them and I am worried about the upcoming cold weather. We have no clothes, no utensils, and no shoes.....".
Razia, (50) said: " I am a widow, working with my other family members since morning to take out water from our rooms, and now too tired and hungry and having nothing to eat. I was praying to Allah that someone gives me at least one glass of water or a cup of tea to relieve my hunger. When I saw the cooked food (rice) and clean water I am very thankful to Allah and KK for this timely support."
