As we're sure you know, Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity's fundraising events have been put on hold while the country stays at home to try and control the coronavirus outbreak.
This means that we have lost thousands of pounds in community fundraising income this April, as people can't hold coffee mornings, pub quizzes, tombolas and raffles, music and sports quizzes and a whole host of other events that our wonderfully inventive and energetic supporters come up with.
Not only that, but our marathon runners, endurance eventers and skydivers have all had their events cancelled or postponed and April is usually a big month for these events with people raising lots of money for the Hospice by taking on challenges.
So we are doing what we can to continue to raise money for the Hospice. Our In-Patient Unit is still caring for patients, and our Nurses and Healthcare Assistants are busier than ever taking care of people in their own homes either offering support over the phone, or visiting homes to provide personal care, medication and emotional support. The new FNH@Home team are still working at full capacity, ensuring that patients and families are supported and reassured, and that terminally ill people have a pain-free and peaceful death at home. And our Bereavement Listeners are supporting people in the community who are struggling with grief and loss.
