We will be punishing ourselves with the most demanding and intense challenge yet. 100 kilometres of hard trekking across the Jurassic Coast. With over 2700m of ascent, more than 2 times Ben Nevis, we'll be in for a gruelling 2 days. We will have less than 24 hours of daylight and the weather is often torrential in Oct.
But we have something incredibly important to achieve. We must help the FOBE Disability Support Centre continue the amazing work taking place there and support them to reach more families.
Every child deserves a chance to have somewhere to go and have fun. It's easy for most, just take your pick, football, cinema, playground, trampoline park etc. When a child has a disability it's not always as easy and generally almost nothing is available that will meet their needs.
With your support FOBE have redeveloped our building to give them to have somewhere safe, suitable and inclusive to go and engage in positive activities. We have a fully kitted out sensory room, accessible outdoor play area, sensory garden, indoor play hall and interactive room.
We run 8 sessions a week currently across 6 days but we have many families waiting for services and the majority of the families we support currently need further help.
Help us raise the funds needed to go to the next stage to establishing the services requested and required by families of children with disabilities, this includes:
- More Afterschool and Weekend Activity Clubs for 6 - 18 year olds with disabilities
- Young Adult Support e.g. Activities for 18+, support with transition to adult services, independence workshops
- More Parent Support e.g. Parent Support Groups, Information & Advice, Drop In Facilities, Helpline, Advocacy and Benefits Support
We hope to provide the support required by our community, with the approach we have always taken being mindful of the language needs, cultural and religious sensitivities, impact of deprivation etc.
Please help us take this step and earn the reward of all the benefit to come in the future!
