Story

Rotarians are people of action. We believe in 'Service above Self'. 100% of the money we raise is spent on good causes - either locally here in Folkestone, or in support of Rotary's Humanitarian Projects. We distribute food, toys or clothes to families suffering hardship. We give money to worthwhile local good causes. We direct and finance projects such as Money Matters, Folkestone. We work with our daughter Club in Folkestone, the Rotary Club of Folkestone Channel to organize volunteers to direct people and traffic at the two Folkestone vaccination centres. We organize the annual Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon, and provide marshalls for other sporting events. At Christmas we bring Father Christmas to the town to add some cheer - usually on his mobile float, but this year through a virtual online Santa's grotto. We make sure that every penny you donate is spent for the benefit of people who really need our support.

The Rotary Club of Folkestone is a group of men and women who live or work in or near Folkestone and who meet regularly for both fellowship and service. We are a part of Rotary International, a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Ever since our Club was founded in 1923, our members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to support the community in Folkestone in diverse ways From bringing Christmas cheer as we bring Santa’s sleigh round the town, to distributing food parcels and providing practical help to people in need. From supporting community-led projects, to helping out with school uniforms. On a wider stage, we have contributed time and money to sustainable projects around the world such as Rotary International’s leadership of the global drive to eradicate Polio
