Story

Food Addiction Solutions (FAS) has evolved from an organisation pioneering awareness - building and providing recovery and support programmes for individuals and groups; to leading international research programmes and spearheading international activities to achieve recognition of Ultra-Processed Food Addiction as a disorder, by the World Health Organisation.

FAS has driven the International Food Addiction Consensus (IFAC) project and in May 2024 held the inaugural conference (IFACC 2024) to present the Consensus Statement signed by 37 international academics, researchers and clinicians. Whilst this is a considerable achievement, in many ways it is only the start of the work needed. Following the conference, four ambitious objectives were identified:

1. A resubmission to the World Health Organisation for the recognition of Ultra-Processed Food Addiction as a disorder as concluded by IFAC. When successful, this recognition will make it possible for researchers to raise funds for important further research into both the addictive components in UPF and effective prevention and treatment programmes.

2. To continue leading and supporting research that will further the understanding of UPF addiction as a substance use disorder, where the substance is certain ultra-processed foods.

3. To host the second international conference related to UPF Addiction; the International Food Addiction and Comorbidities Conference (IFACC 2025) in Mexico City on 4th/5th September 2025.

4. To consolidate and publish the latest scientific research related to UPFA, authored and presented by a number of expert international academics and clinicians, on the topic of UPF Addiction, collated in the publication Frontiers in Psychiatry.

We are proud of what we have achieved so far as an entirely voluntary organisation. To realise the next series of goals we have set, we need your help and support. Every penny that you donate will be used to achieve these goals.

Thank you for any financial support you can give us.

We will publish our progress on our website and would love to recognise people or organisations that help us to achieve these goals. So, if this appeal to you, please contact alexis.mack@the-chc.org and let us know who you are and how you are raising money to support our initiatives.

If you were unable to attend IFACC 2024 and would like to receive video recordings of the presentations please forward a copy of your donation receipt to conferences@the-chc.org and we will gladly provide these to you.

About the charity

We provide a collaborative environment for the community health & wellbeing initiatives CFK and FAS. These evidence-based projects lead activities to help children choose real & natural foods rejecting UPF, and to recognise & provide treatment for food addiction to improve health and well-being.
