We are a local charity serving residents in and around south Islington, London. From our community centre, as well as in the community, we provide and host a wide range of services that improve the quality of life for local people making south Islington a better place to live, work, learn and play.

Story

Every day families living in south Islington struggling with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic approach St Luke's. And while we can all identify with some challenges of lockdown, most of us do this with food in the fridge and stocked cupboards. Islington already has one of the highest numbers of children living in poverty in the country, and lockdown has undoubtedly magnified that.

St Luke's Food Hub opened in April in response to local food poverty and is the only regular source of donations in south Islington for families struggling to afford the basics. Since April we have distributed 20 tonnes of donated food and supported approximately 350 residents each week to access essential produce. Demand for this service has increased every week but, worryingly, food donations are beginning to decline.

Can you help us buy items including food, nappies and toiletries to share with those in crisis? A donation of just £20 could fund a bag of essential items, keeping a family afloat for one week. 100% of your donation will be spent on food and toiletries.

And while food bags give immediate relief, St Luke's is, of course, also offering longer term support with access to benefits and debt advice, employment support and crisis grants. We know we can make a difference and together we will get through these difficult days as a community.

Thank you so much for your support.
