Story
Give the Gift of Sight – 17 Free Eye Camps
In many developing countries, blindness and severe vision impairment are not caused by incurable diseases, but by poverty, distance, and lack of access to basic healthcare. While eye care services are often concentrated in major cities, the majority of people live in rural areas where medical facilities are limited or non-existent.
For families living in poverty, travelling long distances for eye treatment is often impossible. The cost of transport, accommodation, and medical fees places treatment completely out of reach. Women, the elderly, and those with disabilities are particularly affected, as cultural and financial barriers often prevent them from travelling alone.
Why Eye Care Matters
Conditions such as cataracts, infections, and untreated refractive errors can lead to permanent blindness if left untreated, despite being highly treatable. In wealthier countries, these conditions are routinely managed. In poorer communities, they can mean the loss of independence, income, education, and dignity.
In Pakistan alone, millions of people live with vision impairment, and women are disproportionately affected by cataract-related blindness. These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible, community-based eye care services.
Our Aim
This fundraiser will support 17 free eye camps, where qualified medical professionals will provide:
Eye examinations
Medicines
Surgical procedures such as cataract surgery
Follow-up care
All services will be provided completely free of charge to patients.
Why Your Support Matters
Restoring someone’s eyesight does more than improve vision:
It allows adults to return to work
Enables children to continue education
Reduces dependency on family members
Restores dignity, confidence, and independence
From an Islamic perspective, helping those in need is a deeply encouraged act of compassion. Supporting healthcare for the poor is considered an ongoing charity that continues to benefit others long after the donation is made.
“Whatever good you do, Allah is fully aware of it.” (Qur’an 2:195)
Transparency & Trust
This project is delivered by Dabbagh Welfare Trust, a UK-based registered Islamic charity with extensive experience delivering humanitarian aid in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Funds raised will be used strictly for eye care services and managed according to Sharia-compliant and ethical standards.
The charity has previously delivered aid through emergency appeals for Gaza, Yemen, Pakistan floods, Syria, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, supporting thousands of vulnerable families.
