Please help us to save the Colintraive Church building for the community and create a beautiful sustainable muti-purpose venue for all. The Colintraive Church has been an integral and iconic part of our community for over 180 years and we hope to continue our use of this historic building.
The FOCC plans to adapt the Church building into TidesMeet - a small, flexible, tranquil space and a venue that we, the community, can hire and use for a range of activities, such as small concerts, workshops, book groups, singing, 'coffee and chat’. A hub where we can meet in a small and comfortable setting, making the most of the natural light and acoustic potential, and complementing rather than competing with any existing facility.
Buy the church building and bring it under community control
Future proof the church building for the 21st century
Retain the building as a church for occasional worship, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies
Save the church building from third party sale and development, dereliction or demolition where it would be lost forever to the community
We need to raise an initial £85,000 from the community by mid-December to buy the church building and to maintain it while we upgrade the facilities.
Our plan is to raise an additional £150,000 to make essential internal and external improvements: install running water, a kitchen area, a disabled toilet, disabled access, internal and external drainage and to reconfigure the space to improve flexibility. We hope to raise the bulk of this additional funding from external third party funders but any donations in excess of £85.000 from the initial fundraising effort will be used for these upgrades.
You can find lots more information about Friends of Colintraive Church and the TidesMeet project including further ways in which you can help on our website www.tidesmeet.org.uk.
In the event that we are unable to raise enough funds to buy the church building and need to abandon the project, we will return any donation that has been made through the JustGiving page, provided that we have the name and address of a donor. We may have to make a small proportional deduction from each donation to cover the costs of the campaign and any fees we have incurred on the JustGiving site. Also, we won't claim any Gift Aid that has been added to donations until we are sure that we are going ahead.
