The Friends of OLSM is a welcoming group of volunteers who regularly meet to organise and run a variety of fun, social events throughout the school year. Our aim is to raise funds to provide the school with many extras and experiences that would not otherwise be available from the school’s annual budget. However, we are not all about raising money, if you are new to the school it can be a great way of getting to meet other parents and becoming involved in the local community. All parents, carers, guardians and staff are automatically members of Friends of OLSM. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas and opportunities so if you would like any more information or to get involved please get in contact.

Story

We are thrilled that the Abergavenny 3 Peaks Challenge is back on! After a year of cancellations and waiting due to COVID19 restrictions, the intrepid team of PTA mums are now able to complete the challenge on Saturday 26th June 2021. Training is well under way and we are pleased to report no real casualties so far, although there has been the odd tumble through the bracken and bruised toes to report!

We are walking to raise funds to improve the outdoor learning facilities at OLSM. As most people will know, funding for schools is a real issue for school staff who want to give our children the very best opportunities, but often have to make hard choices about where funding should go. Viv Evans, Headteacher at OLSM, has a vision to create a truly rounded learning environment where our children can grow into strong, resilient and caring members of our community. Raising money through sponsored events like this is an absolute necessity to give the children the chance of achieving that vision.

The hiking team would be delighted if anyone feels motivated to sponsor their sore feet. You can do so here!
