Story
As you are aware at Friends' there is a long tradition of pupils helping others and this year has been no exception. In Year 13 we have two teams of pupils who have been working throughout the year with, Habitat for Humanity and Saphara.
It would be fantastic if everyone in school could support our efforts, and with almost 1100 pupils, we should be able to raise a substantial amount of money for these two fantastic causes. We would be delighted if each pupil could contribute £5 which can be donated through our JustGiving page; however, we would be grateful for all donations, no matter how small. There will also be a collection opportunity for cash donations in Collects on Wednesday. Funds raised will be split between the two charities.
Habitat for Humanity is a global charity that aims to provide affordable and adequate housing for everyone across the world. In October a group of our Year 13 pupils took part in Habitat for Humanity workshops and then had the opportunity to work with Habitat directly in one of their projects here in Northern Ireland. Funds raised will support Habitat’s long-term partnership programs in some of the world's poorest communities.
Saphara is a Northern Ireland-based charity that empowers young people through educational projects, focusing on social justice and transforming lives locally and in India. Their work includes the "Be the Change" programme, which our pupils have been involved with this year, working with three other local schools, where they have been developing leadership skills and supporting newcomer/refugee children. The money raised through this event will go towards supporting education in India, classroom resources, and daily meals for marginalised children in India.
All donations will be greatly appreciated.
