Fundraising for Medical Treatment
I’ve always been worried about Adrian since he was little. Finally, last year, during a visit to a specialist clinic in Ukraine, Adrian was diagnosed with Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder. His immune system is attacking his own brain.
At first, I was scared and didn’t understand what that meant for my family. Through research and a blog by one of the mums with a similar problem in child health, I found out about Immunoglobulin therapy, which is very effective and the only real hope for my son, but also extremely expensive.
The treatment is not available through the NHS, and the disease is not very well known in the UK, meaning we would need to cover the entire cost of his treatment. To cover the first stages of treatment, we took out a bank loan along with help from friends and family. It was his chance, as the effects of the treatment exceeded our expectations. Adrian's behavior changed so much, and everything was going in the right direction.
In May 2021, during a follow-up visit, we were told that, unfortunately, the fight is still far from over. Although Adrian has shown some very good improvement, his treatment will need to continue, as his condition will only regress if we discontinue now.
The planned cost of the next round of treatment is estimated to be £40k. We are still trying to pay off debts close to £30k incurred to pay for the first stage of treatment, and the finances necessary to continue his treatment are beyond what we are able to put together.
I am asking for help and support so that we can provide the necessary treatment for Adrian to have a happy, healthy, normal future.
Please support us and help save Adrian.
