🏃🏻Rich Runs the London Marathon 2026 for Derbyshire Carers

Hi, I’m Rich Barr - a proud father of four, local businessman, and lifelong sports enthusiast. In April 2026, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes to take on the London Marathon in support of Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA).

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

Closes 30/04/2026

“Derbyshire Carers Association support Carers who look after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid. We have a wealth of experience and understanding of the demands that a caring role can bring.”

Story

💙 Why I’m Running

Every day in the UK, 6,000 people become Carers - quiet heroes who provide unpaid care to loved ones facing illness, disability, mental health challenges, or addiction. In Derbyshire alone, there are an estimated 96,000 Carers, with over 26,000 aged 65 and above.

I first learned about DCA through a work contact and was deeply moved by their mission. They support Carers of all ages - from children as young as 5 to seniors - offering guidance, advocacy, and a sense of community to those who often go unseen.

🚴‍♂️ About Me

Whether I’m cycling through the Derbyshire and Lincolnshire countryside or playing golf with my son, I’ve always found joy in movement and connection. As a director at Advanced Building Plastics Ltd in Ambergate, I believe in giving back to the community that’s given me so much.

This marathon isn’t just a personal challenge - it’s a tribute to every Carer whose dedication deserves recognition. I’m running for them.
