Since the FA and SFA bans have come into place, opportunities to play competitive football for trans women have diminished significantly, with trans-inclusive clubs and leagues being centred on a few cities across England and Scotland. We want to see trans-inclusive football opportunities in towns and cities across the UK.
There has never been a more important time to grow opportunities for trans people to play football as themselves without restriction.
The Trans-Inclusive Football Fund will help us achieve this ambition.
The Fund will be managed by Football v Transphobia, a trans-led project of Pride Sports and LEAP Sports Scotland to support the development of unaffiliated football opportunities for trans people in England and Scotland. Existing clubs, teams and leagues will be able to apply to grow their capacity, as well as new start-ups.
There are many great examples of existing clubs and initiatives that support trans inclusive football and we encourage you to continue to support them through their fundraising efforts.
We will announce our grant criteria in the coming weeks, and will launch our first grant round (depending on donations) at the beginning of next season.
FOOTBALL IS FOR EVERYONE
